LAX>MIAMI>HOMESTEAD

On Wednesday, May 23, Nic and I left for our Anniversary Trip/Babymoon adventure in Florida. I was really excited, but pretty nervous about flying while pregnant. I drank about 10 cups of water on the flight and constantly got up to walk around. When we arrived in Miami one of my legs was slightly swollen, but other than that, the flight went well.

We hopped in our rental car and off we went. We decided to stop in Coconut Grove at Monty's for a bite to eat. It was right on the water in a marina and the second that ocean air hit our faces we felt relaxed. Nic got a delicious looking Pina Colada to kick off the trip (I enjoyed water). We got the most moist fish and chips and fried shrimp and split the two while listening to live music. It was a great way to start off the trip.

When we got to the Hampton Inn in Homestead it was slightly raining. It was that warm, tropical rain though. We checked-in and enjoyed fresh, hot chocolate chip cookies and hot chocolate before going to bed.

Weekly Photo Outtakes

After we took the 27 week weekly photos, we thought it would be fun to take some bare bellied photos. Nic complimented me saying how good I looked so I started screwing around flexing and showing off my"hot" pregnancy bod. We thought the photos were very funny so we decided to share them. :)

Construction Part 1

Maybe we are crazy, but we have decided to remodel our kitchen before Baby Campbell arrives. We knew we had to at least replace the island and fix our lower cabinetry because of the flood damage and we've always talked about updating our kitchen so when our house flooded we figured this would be a good time to remodel. Our original plan was just to change the island, update the cabinets and possibly move the microwave. It was actually pretty pricey for what we felt we were getting and the more we talked about it the more we realized we would outgrow our kitchen once we have a few kids running around. The last thing we wanted to do was spending a bunch of time and money doing construction only to decide a few years later that we still weren't completely happy with our kitchen. We asked our contractor to price out a few other options including our dream design (for the space we have). It was obviously more, but for the amount we would be spending we were getting way more. So we decided to go for it! We changed our game plan really late, then had to get our permits, HOA approval, etc. so we are really cutting it close with the baby's due date! We are just praying and crossing our fingers that we haven't gotten ourselves in over our head and that the construction is finished before the baby arrives.

Here are some before photos of outside:

Here are the first construction photos: Our termite tree has been removed. Our bushes that covered the air conditioners have been removed, and our BBQ is in the process of being removed.

Legion Pizza Party

On May 22, Nic and I went to Vincenzo's for an end of season basketball party for the Legion team he coached. We enjoyed pizza, I met all the kids and parents, and we all had a lot of fun. Nic  gave a speech and the parent's thanked Nic for all his hard work and gave him a thank-you gift. I had so many parents come up to me and tell me what an amazing coach Nic is. They all said how great he is with the kids, how much the kids learned basketball-wise, but most importantly he treated the kids with respect and taught them to be better individuals. I already know all this about Nic and see how amazing he is with kids, especially in his role as their coach, but it sure was nice to hear it from so many people. I felt so proud of him. I know the parents and kids are going to miss having Nic run the Legion Program and coach their kids. I also know Nic is a bit sad to be giving it up to spend more time with the baby and I and I'm glad we were able to end the experience with such a wonderful party.

2nd Trimester

Here are photos of me on weeks 14-27 just for comparison's sake. Most of the websites I found said that the second trimester ended with week 26, but both of my pregnancy apps included week 27 in the second trimester so I decided to include it. It is crazy to see how much baby has grown this trimester and how much my stomach has changed as a result. I went from barely showing to looking very obviously pregnant.

27 Weeks

Baby’s Size: Cauliflower

Baby’s Milestones: Baby is about 15 inches long (1st-head to toe measurement) and weighs over two pounds. Baby's auditory development is continuing to progress as well as baby's taste buds.

My Weight: 159.8

Symptoms: My hips and back are still a bit sore. My feet still look a little bit swollen at the end of the day (I imagine this will just continue to get worse from here on out). Baby must have heard me complaining about the bladded kicks last week because I have been feeling up much higher this week (he is already such an obedient child ;)). Unfortunately I think him being higher might have contributed to the horrible acid reflux/heart burn I've had all week. Before this pregnancy I had never experienced heart burn before and now I'm getting it pretty much every time I eat. :/ I have been pretty tired this week (still not sleeping great which doesn't help) and extra hungry, so I definitely feel like our little guy is having a major growth spurt. Despite the few symptoms that really are minor, I have been feeling pretty great and I feel so blessed to have a healthy little baby inside of me.

Cravings: No cravings this week, just extra hungry.
TP: 11
Measurements: Waist: 34½  Below Belly Button: 37

Emotions: I've had one or two cries this week and have been a bit grumpy (I think that has mainly been caused by lack of sleep though).

Feeling the Baby:  Little baby has been moving a lot more lately (or he is just bigger so I feel him more). Tyler got to feel him at the Kings game Thursday night and Sabrina got to feel him at the movies Friday night. I absolutely love feeling him move and I'm happy that my family is getting to feel him too!

First Belly Touch

I had my first belly touch today (May 21st)! Obviously this is excluding family members. As I was leaving work one of the forklift drivers started congratulating me on my baby and my bump. He was so genuinely happy and excited or me. He asked me if he could touch my belly and I said yes. He rubbed my belly then leaned in and kissed it. I was caught off guard with the kiss and my first instinct was to step back, but it honestly didn't bother me. I've read about so many women who hate to have their belly touched and I wasn't sure how I would react, but I honestly enjoyed it. He then said God Bless me and my baby and cheerfully went on his way. The excitement he showed for me and the baby was absolutely contagious! I walked away with a huge grin on my face. In fact most of the production guys at work are super excited for me. Whenever they see me they all get these huge grins on their faces and all tell me how wonderful being a parent is and congratulate me. I'm really enjoying all the special attention and am happy my first belly rub was such a positive experience!

Movies, Scrapbooking, and Hockey

On Friday afternoon, May 18th, my mom and I began our National Scrapbooking Weekend crop. We cropped most of the afternoon and evening on Friday except when I took a little break to go see What to Expect When You're Expecting with Sabrina. She had planned to take me weeks earlier and we had a great time together. The movie was a little bit slow, but very funny and sweet. We both cried a bunch (mostly happy tears) and I thought it was the perfect movie to see while pregnant.

On Saturday, Sabrina joined us for the crop. She did it Beena style though...she invited Amy to stop by with white wine. She did get two very cute two-page spreads done though! Hopefully she will crop with us more often.

On Sunday, my mom and I squeezed in a bit more scrapbooking and brunch before heading down to LA for the Kings game. That day was the day that Staples had the Amgen Tour of California bike race, the hockey game and a Clippers game that night so everyone was panicked about getting down there, parking and making it into the game on time. We ended up making it down in record time and they even had us park in a closer lot because our usual lot was already full. We had a fun time at the game, except for the part where the Kings lost. :( We were sort of expecting them to just sweep the series, but we have confidence that they will win game 5 on the road to win the Western Conference.
After the game, we went back to our scrapbooking event. I gave my mom her Mother's Day gift and we got a few more pages done. Then we went to the apple store and met Nic for dinner at Wokano.

Early Anniversary Gift

Nic surprised me with an early Anniversary gift! He wrote me the sweetest card that made me cry and got me an ipad! He is the best husband!!

Kings Game

On Thursday May 17th, Justin, Tyler, my dad and I went to another Kings Playoff Game. It is so exciting to see the Kings doing so well in the Playoffs. It was also really nice to spend some time with my brothers. I don't get to see them very often so it was great to catch up. GO KINGS GO!
