On Friday night Nic made flank steak and we ate Sprinkles cupcakes. Saturday was Nic's last day at his city job, which means we will finally have some weekends free!! While Nic was at work, I went up to Acton to scrapbook with my mom. That evening Nic, my mom and I went to dinner at Origami. My mom and I got this delicious "Wedding Cake" martini, we had yummy sushi, a burger with shrimp tempura on it and Nic got the biggest burger we have ever seen!!
Then we went to see Avatar in 3D. It was my first 3D movie and I loved it! I am so glad I got to see it on the big screen.
On Sunday my mom and I grabbed Starbucks for breakfast and spent the morning shopping. In the afternoon Nic and I built a temporary desk for our Game room. We ordered pizza and had skype dates with Sabrina and Lauren (and Ollie!). He is so darn cute! Skype wasn't working well so Ollie couldn't see us and he kept looking around confused like "where are those weird voices coming from?" We love him so much!
We also started to plan our Labor Day Weekend trip to San Francisco!!! I've never been and am beyond excited!!

Relaxing Weekend
I finally had a weekend of mostly fun and relaxation. While Nic was at work Saturday, I went to dance rehearsal then over to my mom's house to scrapbook with her while she recovers from her sinus surgery. Sandy and Caitlin came over to scrapbook/chat with us and Sabrina joined us for a brief moment in between packing to head back to Pittsburgh for college. It was really fun to scrapbook and catch up with everyone.
Today, I drove my mom to Beverly Hills for a follow-up dr. apt. then spent the afternoon scrapbooking some more. (Nic had to work again) My mom and I are working together on our trip to the Olympics. The picture posted is my favorite page I made today.
It has been such an enjoyable weekend, but it is time to get back to reality. I am off to choreograph some more for my dance classes tomorrow.

Happy 27th Nic!
Today was Nic's birthday in the US!! He has now joined the late twenties club.
I woke him up with breakfast in bed. Then we both had to head off to work. While Nic was at basketball tonight I baked cupcakes and picked up some pizza for dinner.

Gifts for Oliver
We sent some gifts to Oliver as soon as he was born. I tried to find something that said "I love my Uncle" on it, but couldn't find anything. (Sorry Nic). In fact, this was the only thing I could find that mentioned an Aunt, but fortunately for me it was exactly what I was looking for. I especially love the turtles!
As you can see with the second gift I'm starting to teach Oliver at a very young age that the US is awesome! ;) Hopefully that shirt and the shorts will fit him just perfect by summer.

Birthday Dinner
We started the celebrating early by going out to dinner Sunday night for Nic's 27th Birthday. We went to Maru in Valencia and had some delicious sushi, filet with mashed potatoes, and a molten chocolate cake and peaches with fresh whipped cream for dessert.

American Idol Concert
My cousin Katelyn and I went to the American Idol concert Friday the 13th at Staples Center. All of the top 10 from this past season perfromed including some of my favorites: Didi Benami, Aaron Kelly, Casey James, Crystal Bowersox and Lee Dewyze! It was a really fun show and it was great to spend some time with my cousin too!

Job #4 for Nic
On Thursday night Nic started his fourth job. He is running a traveling basketball program and coaching one of the teams! The program will help prepare 6th, 7th and 8th grade kids for highschool basketball. The best part is that August is Nic's last month working for the city! In September Nic should finally get to have a weekend and hopefully we can go somewhere!
Gaga...Oh-La-La!
The Lady Gaga concert was amazing! I picked Kelly up and we met Rachelle at Granville for Happy Hour before heading down to Staples Center. (Sabrina came to the concert straight from the airport because she missed her flight the day before.) So many of the fans were dressed up...it was really entertaining. Then Lady Gaga started and she was AMAZING!! Such a great concert. It had everything: great dancing, fabulous costumes, impressive sets, and Lady Gaga's voice sounded fantastic! She is beyond weird and a bit crazy, but she really is a genius and a truly talented artist and performer! I was very impressed and LOVED IT!

Guestroom Makeover
We really wanted to get the guestroom done before Nic's parents came. We picked out the bedding first and were waiting for it to arrive so we could base all our other choices on the colors. Unfortunatly the bedding was backordered twice so with only one week before we were leaving for Hawaii to meet Nic's parents we had a decision to make. We took a risk, picked a paint color, and Nic painted the room 2 nights before we left for Hawaii! When we got back the bedding had arrived so we added that to the room and were relieved when it worked well with the wall color. After Nic's parents left we added the curtains, chest and shelf with photos. We really love how the room turned out and can't wait to have our next guest come stay the night.
Uncle Nic and Auntie Crystal
We are a first time Auntie and Uncle!! Nic's sister Lauren gave birth to Oliver Robert Holt on August 8th, 2010 at 10:29pm. We are so excited for Lauren and Craig and hopefully we will get to meet the little guy on skype soon! It sure makes us sad that we can't be there to hold him, but thank goodness for all the pictures Susan keeps posting so we can somewhat feel like we are there.
Welcome to the world Oliver!!!

Grapes Galore
On Saturday we decided it was time to harvest our grapes. They are still small, but some were starting to over-ripen and we really wanted to avoid the huge mess of squashed grapes on the ground. So we got out the ladder and started cutting. We kept an entire bowl of beautiful grapes and tossed the rest. I could never be a farmer....it was such hard work and after spending the entire day in the yard we have finally decided to take the plunge and hire a gardner. :)

Engagement Party
On Saturday we went to Ashley and Andre's engagement party at Villa Sorriso in Pasadena. It was one of the nicest engagement parties I have ever been to. The menu included: wonderful drinks, bruschetta, caesar salad, grilled salmon with a mango relish & lobster brandy cream sauce, chicken marsala, and tiramisu for dessert. Mmmmmmm.
It was great to catch up with a few of my sorority sisters and most importantly we got to celebrate Ashley and Andre's relationship! What a fun night! Congrats Ash and Andre!!
