2006
This was our first trip together! We traveled all over Australia and realized what great travel partners we are.
1. Melbourne, Victoria, Australia-We saw an Australian rules footy game, checked out Queen Victoria Market, ate on Lygon Street, explored Fitzroy Gardens, and went to the Shrine of Remembrance.
2. Port Douglas, Queensland, Australia-We snorkeled the Great Barrier Reef, ate a traditional Aussie meal, took a train to Kurunda, learned to play the Didgeridoo at Tjapukai Aboriginal Park, explored the Daintree Rainforest, went to Cape Tribulation to see where the sea meets the rainforest, checked out Mossman Gorge, and saw crocodiles on the Daintree river.
3. Cairns, Queensland, Australia-we went to Green Island, we went white water rafting on the Tully River, and relaxed poolide.
4. Sydney, New South Wales, Australia-We fed kangaroos and touched a koala, we saw an opera at the Sydney Opera House, went to Bondi Beach, went to the nearby Blue Mountains, saw the site of the 2000 Summer Olympics, and went on an amazing sunset cruise in Sydney Harbour.
5. Launceston, Tasmania, Australia-This is where Nic is from and it was my first of I'm sure many visits to Tasmania. We stayed in Launceston with Nic's parents. We saw the Gorge, got up close to the Blowhole in Bicheno, went to Port Arthur, hiked to Wineglass Bay (my fave place in Tassie), took a drive to Hobart to check out the waterfront and Cadbury chocolate factory, touched a wombat and tasmanian devil at trowunda wildlife park, I drove on the other side of the road, we went wine tasting along the Tamar River and we spent a lot of time with family and friends.
2007
6. The Gold Coast, Australia-Nic lived here for a year playing basketball and I was able to visit for a little over a week. My mom, dad, and brothers also made it out while I was visiting to watch Nic play b-ball for the Blaze, sea doo and visit Steve Erwin's wildlife park (where I held a koala, we saw Bindi perform, and had an encounter with dingos). Nic and I went jet boating, ate a delicious dinner at Moo Moos, and enjoyed lots of sun and beaches including the world famous Surfer's Paradise!
2008
7. Kauai, Hawaii, U.S.A-This is where we went for our Honeymoon! It was our first time to this island and we loved it. We explored the Napali Coast, went to Waimea Canyon, drove past the Wailua River, learned to surf, swam at Poipu Beach, and gasped at Wailua Falls and Opaekaa Falls.
8. Bendigo, Victoria, Australia-Nic and I lived here together after our wedding because Nic was playing basketball for the Braves. This was out first house together and were we spent our first few motnhs as newlyweds. We met some of the greatest people in Bendigo that we hope to stay friends with forever. While in Bendigo I got my first taste of being a housewife. I enjoyed scrapbooking all day, watching very episode of House with Nic, and cooking delicious dinenrs for the two of us. We had an amazing 4th of July party where we taught the Aussies flip cup. We took a trip to Sovereign Hill,Ballarat. From here we also did the drive along the Great Ocean Road to check out the 12 Apostles!
9. Launceston, Tasmania, Australia-We went back to Tassie and lived with Nic's parents for a while. While here we went to Binnalong Bay, we watched the penguins at Bicheno, we went to the lavender farms, and back to Wineglass Bay.
2009
While waiting for Nic's immigration papers to come so we could be together in the US we took a trip to Europe. It was one of the best experiences of our lives thus far!
10. London, England-We met up in London where we saw Hyde Park, Big Ben, and Buckingham Palace.
11. Lisbon, Portugal- We started our cruise here and only had a few hours to race around and explore. The windy cobblestone streets and hillside views down to the ocean in the Alfama were gorgeous. We went to the Tower of Belem, saw Jeronimos Monestary and tried the delicious pasties de belem.
12. Cadiz, Spain- we went to the cathedral and climbed the Torre Tavira to see impressive 360 views of the city.
13. Seville, Spain- We saw the Cathedral and Giralda, we toured the bull fighting ring Plaza de Toro, went to Plaza de Espana, and walked through the barrio de Santa Cruz.
14. Malaga, Spain-
15. Granada, Spain- We took a bus to the Alhambra.
16. Barcelona, Spain- we of course saw Sagrada Familia, the Park Guell, the Picasso Museum, and walked Las Ramblas.
17. Villefranche, France- we ate delicious crepes along the water and Nic played ball with a young french girl.
18. Monte Carlo, Monaco-we saw the changing of the guards at The Prince's Palace, we viewed the cathedral, saw the Casino, saw the Formula One track, and took in the impeccable sites and incredible views.
19. Nice, France- We took a stroll along the waterfront.
20. Rome, Italy-We went to the Colosseum, the Forum, and ate lunch by the Pantheon.
21. Naples, Italy-We took the train to Pompeii, ate lunch on a cliff in Sorrento, and sampled some delicious pizza back in Naples.
22. Corfu, Greece-We went to the Old Fortress and the New Fortress, we walked around the Old Town and the Jewish area, we ate some delcious tzaziki along the water, then walked about 10 steps to another restaurant to eat more traditional Greek food.
23. Split, Croatia-
24. Munich, Germany-My cousin Nils spent the weekend with us and showed us around. We ate the most delicious food, drank tons of beer, went to the Oktoberfest grounds, watched the famous dancing figures in the Glockenspiel in Marienplatz, went to the site of the 1972 Summer Olympics, and spent many happy hours eating and drinking at Hofbrauhaus.
25. Prague, Czech Republic-What a beautiful and romantic place! We went to Prague Castle, walked across Charles Bridge, explored the Old Town and watched the Astronomical clock, and we explored the Old Jewish quarter including the cemetery and synagogue, which was very emotional.
26. Berlin, Germany-One of the most interesting places we went during out Europe Adventure. Most everything up to this point was impressive because of how ahead of the times the buildings, art, and society seemed to be. In Berlin however it was the recentness of everyhting that made it so shocking. We of course saw the Berlin Wall, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag Building, Checkpoint Charlie, the site of the 1936 Summer Olympics, and the Jewish Memorial, which instantly reminded us of the Jewish Cemetery in Prague.
27. Amsterdam, Netherlands-We cruised along the canals, saw Anne Franks House, went to the Rijksmuseum, to the Van Gogh museum, ate the most amazing pancakes I've ever had in my life, and we of course enjoyed the unique nightlife.
28. Paris, France-What a magnificent place! We went to the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Arc de Triomphe, the Musee d'Orsay, the Conciergerie, Saint-Chapelle, the Basilique du Sacre-Coeur, and we walked through the catacombs under the city. We took a sunset cruise along the Siene and after we took a bus ride through the city. We dined on the Champs-Elysees, and one of the highlights of the trip was lunch at the top of the Eiffel Tower!
29. Rome (Part 2)-We went to the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, the Spanish Steps, the Vatican, the Trevi Fountain, and the Pantheon again.
30. Siena, Italy-I studied abroad in Italy the summer after Nic and I first dated. It really felt like "home" during that time and will always hold a special place in my heart so I feel very fortunate to have been able to share it with Nic. We went to the Duomo, drank wine in the Piazza del Campo, strolled the streets, and ate dinner at my favorite restaurant Medio Evo.
31. Florence, Italy-We saw the David at the accademia dell'Arte del Disegno, crossed the Ponte Vecchio, went to the Uffizi, ate in the Piazza del Signoria,
32. Pisa, Italy-We took a day trip to see the Leaning Tower.
33. Venice, Italy-for our 1 year wedding Anniversary. We of course took a condola ride and enjoyed a gorgeous sunset dinner.
34. Split (part 2)-We walked to a few different beaches, relaxed and enjoyed the beautiful warm day.
35. Corfu (Part 2)-We took a boat ride, relaxed on the beach all day, ate delcious tzaziki and forced oursleves to take a dip in the freezing cold water.
36. Athens, Greece- We visited the Acropolis to see the Parthenon, which was just as spectacular as I had imagined it. We saw the site of the first modern Olympic Games. We saw the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hephasteus, and walked through Plaka the city's oldest district.
37. Mykonos, Greece-We checked out all the blue roofed buildings, saw the windmills, ate a delicious seafood meal and just wandered. We took a ferry over to Delos to check out one of the most historical Greek isles.
38. Olympia, Greece-The trains were on strike so we took a few local buses to the site of the first ever Olympic Games. It was really cool to see, especially since I am pretty much obsessed with the Olympics.
39. London (Part 2)-We took a train out of London to spend some time with my family on their farm in Acton Trussel. They were wonderful and it was absolutely gorgeous! Back in London we saw We Will Rock You, took a trip to Stonehenge, rode the London Eye, had tea at Fortnum & Mason, and enjoyed a pub crawl with Rachelle and Brandon.
2010
40. Vancouver, B.C., Canada-We went with my family to see the 2010 Winter Olympics. We watched Men's Aerials Finals, Women's Downhill skiing in Whistler, a medal ceremony, Figure Skating Exhibition, Bronze Medal Hockey Game, and the Closing Ceremony.
41. Maui, Hawaii, USA- This is where we celebrated our 2nd Wedding Anniversary! We swam with turtles, survived/loved the Road to Hana, ate the best food, and relaxed.
