So Helpful

We have had so much help since Luc was born and we really appreciate it. It seems like people are overly eager to visit and help when you have your first child, but we actually received more support this time around. My mom's club moms did meal deliveries, friends brought meals over and family helped with watching the boys. Alka, Nicole, Heather, Trina, Colleen, Angela and Rocio from my Mom's Club brought dinners over which was such a huge help. My parents brought a few meals over including one of my favorite homemade meals. Rachelle and Vivian each visited and brought over a meal. Sabrina made a meal and helped with watching the boys. Lindsay brought us donuts one morning. Susan came from Australia to help with cooking, cleaning and watching the boys. Justin, Aubree and Tyler helped with watching the boys. I'm sure I'm forgetting to mention people and or things that you all did for us (lack of sleep has a way of messing up your memories), but we appreciate everyone and all the help so very much. It definitely made the transition a little easier.

6 Weeks Old

On October 21st, Luc turned 6 weeks old. He weighs 11 pounds 11 ounces! Luc is too tall for newborn clothes, but too skinny for 0-3 at the moment. Luc has been pretty consistent overnight. He is doing a longer first stretch ranging from 4-5 hours, then two 3 hour stretches so I'm getting up twice a night to nurse. Luc has started playing by himself on his mat and batting at toys. We started a more consistent bedtime and bedtime routine this week. One highlight of the week: Luc grabbed onto my finger and held it while sleeping, talk about heart melting.

Swim Lesson

On October 20th, Auntie Beena, Luc and I went to watch Hudson and dada at swim. Hudson has improved so much! He was doing back floats on his own, kicking and swimming on his own, wall walking and jumping in. He was so confident and we were very impressed. Of course I didn't get the amazing back float on video or the impressive run across the mat with a huge jump into the pool. He ran so fast that with the camera delay when you push record only captured him hitting the water. Everyone in the viewing room must have been watching because they all oohed and aaahed. The video below shows some similar skills and gives an idea of where he is at. Way to go, Hud!!

The teacher uses a doll to demonstrate and Hud loves it. He thinks it is his baby and wants him to do everything with him.

Hallowentime at Disenyland

On October 19th, we finally made it to Disneyland. I love this time of year with all the Halloween festivities and I know Hud was excited!! We took our picture in front of the giant Mickey pumpkin first. From there we took Luc on his very first ride: The Winnie the Pooh ride. He really liked it. He was looking around and even started fussing when the ride ended.  Then we went to the jamboree to enjoy some Halloween fun. Hudson did a ring toss with Donald, played around with Goofy, colored a scary witch mask and met Minnie and Mickey. Luc met Mickey for the first time and even got a kiss from the big fella. ;)

After that, we got Luc a 1st visit button and he took a nap while Nic and Hud went on the teacups and rockets. After that we all went on Monsters, Inc. and The Little Mermaid. Luc really seemed to like the rides. His eyes were open wide and he fussed after we got off both rides as if to say more please. We were so happy Luc's first visit went well and we can't wait to make more memories here with our boys.

LACHSA Dinner

On October 17th, Luc and I met my LACHSA girlfriends for dinner at Wokano in Burbank. They all enjoyed meeting Luc and it was fun to see Yesenia just before the arrival of her new little man. Sunde shared some exciting news that night and the rest of us just spent time catching up. Luc was so good! He hung out and then slept through most of the meal. It is always fun to spend time with these girls. :)

Pumpkin Patch and Dinner in the OC

On October 15th we drove down to the OC to meet Maggie Minhas for pumpkin patch photos. Maggie is a friend from college and I just love her work. It is quite a drive for us, but it is always fun to see Maggie and her pictures make the drive worth it. Plus she is so great with Hudson. She always manages to get the best smiles out of him. :) If you are in the OC, I highly recommend her. We got there a bit early, so while we waited, we took some pictures in those cardboard cutouts and Nic ad Hud did a maze. Here are just a few of my favorite pictures from the afternoon:

Afterwards, we went to Maggianos for dinner. It was so nice that Miri and Lauren were able to join us. It was great to see them and have them meet Luc. Miri also shared some very exciting news of her own that night!

Both boys were very good throughout the dinner and they both slept the entire way home.

5 Weeks Old

On October 14th, Luc turned 5 weeks old. He weighs 11 pounds now. He has done a few decent stretches overnight: one 5 1/2 hour stretch, one 5 hour stretch, one 4 1/2 hour stretch and a few nights of 3 1/2 hour stretches. Luc has consistently been waking around 2:30 am and 6 am for feedings. Way to go little man! I've also been getting some big gummy smiles the last few mornings.

Company Picnic

On October 12th we went to Magic Mountain for our Company Picnic. Justin and my mom were there as well. When we arrived we went to the kid area. My mom watched Luc while Nic, Justin and I took Hud on a few rides. We went on the school bus (Hud loved it!), then the jeep ride and the planes. The jeep ride was a bit boring (and uncomfortable for tall adults), but the plane ride was a lot of fun. Then Hud pointed out the bounce and pounce. I took him over and he was just tall enough to go on. He went on all by himself and he had a ton of fun. He was smiling and laughing as it raised them high into the air, then dropped them down over and over again. I think he was a little scared because when we asked him if he wanted to go again, he immediately said no. We were all so proud of him though! I can't believe what a big boy he is becoming. After that, my mom took the boys to the picnic and I went with Nic and Justin on Goliath. I hadn't been on a roller coaster in so long. I was actually a bit scared. It was so fun!
When we got to the picnic, Hud was hanging out with Bugs Bunny. They were BFFs and Hud was having the time of his life! lol. We ate food, played games and did all the usual picnic stuff. Once the picnic was over, we took off. It had been a long, hot day for Luc and we were all tired.

Gymboree Halloween Party

On October 11th, my mom, Hudson, Luc and I went to Hudson's Gymboree party. We had so much fun at the party last year, that I decided it was worth the effort of dragging Luc along to make it happen this year. I'm so glad I did because Luc was so good- he hung out and slept in the carrier- and Hud had the best time! He dressed up as Olaf and Luc was Sven. Are they not the cutest things you have ever seen?!

Nic Vegas/ Mama's Solo Parenting Weekend

On October 10th-11th, Nic went to Vegas with his friends and I spent my first few days on my own with the boys. There were some moments of super mom-dom and there were some total melt downs. The biggest help was baby wearing: I rotated between the wrap and carrier. I did a lot of book reading with both boys on my lap, pouch feedings with both boys on my lap and lots of carrying of both kids simultaneously. It never fails though that things all fall apart at the same time. Usually when I'd try to get one boy down for a nap is when the other would have a meltdown or I'd be in the middle of feeding Hud and have to simultaneously nurse Luc because he'd decide he was starving right then. On day 1, Hud fell down the stairs and bit his tongue. My poor little baby. Other than that, the day went pretty well. I had lots of baby cuddles and we even made it outside to play.

On Day 2, I took the boys to the park. It was a lot of work to get them there, but we had a great time. I was feeling like super mom too! Who would have thought something as simple as the park could be such a confidence boost. That afternoon, I had to get myself and both boys out of the house by myself to get Hud to his Halloween Gymboree Party. My mom met us there. After the party, I brought the boys home and had to rush to get Hud fed and to bed (that is when I had to simultaneously nurse Luc because he hadn't been fed since before the Gymboree party). My mom came over a bit later and held Luc while I got Hud to bed.

Aside from a few stressful moments and a few tears, I thought the weekend went really well. I was really happy that Nic could meet up with his friend Ewan McKenzie from Australia and have a fun weekend in Vegas. He stayed at Excalibur and went to a pool party at Wet Republic. I hope he enjoyed his boys weekend as much as I enjoyed my weekend with my boys. ;)
