1st Ultrasound
Both Aunt Susannah and my mom insisted that I tell my dr. right away about my spotting over the weekend, so I called during my 10am break. They said they could get me in right away, so Nic and I went at noon. I was a bit nervous. I have read all these scary things about blighted ovums, molar pregnancies, no heartbeat, ectopic pregnancies, etc. so I was a bit worried about everything looking ok. The first thing the dr. said was, “well its in your uterus, its in the right place so that’s a good start.” Then she said, “there is your baby, well, actually pre-baby, actually more like pre-pre-baby.” She showed us my uterine lining, the placenta, the sac, the baby and best of all, this little white flickering dot…the baby’s heartbeat. It was the best moment! I was so relieved and so happy and so in love with our flickering little heartbeat baby. She also talked to us for a little bit and said she was willing to do whatever I needed to feel comfortable at this point. We increased my dosage of progesterone to twice a day, they took blood to test my levels, and we scheduled another appointment for next Thursday. I am so happy they were able to get me in so quickly and were so willing to help me feel re-assured. She also said the baby looked just under 6 weeks and she put my EDD (estimated due date) at August 30th.
