4 Month Doctor Appointment

On December 27th, Hudson had his 4 month doctor appointment. It went really well (finally a happy doctor visit!). Hudson weighed 16 pounds (60th%), he was 26 1/2 inches (94th%) and his head circumference was 16.9 inches (86th%). I was told I was doing a great job with breastfeeding, which was nice to hear. We talked about Hudson's bad sleeping patterns and overnight feedings. Dr. Mike said because of his reflux and massive growth (his chart line went almost straight up in every area) it was ok that he was eating so frequently and he advised us not to begin sleep training yet. He said Hudson seemed very alert and was reaching all his milestones just fine so overall it was a very good report card for Hud. We showed Dr. Mike a slight dry patch of skin beginning to form on Hudson's legs. He said to really lube him up often and mentioned that because he is so white he is more prone to rashes. We also had a few diapers tested and they came back negative for the first time (this was extra surprising because I had been off the diet for the few days prior because of Christmas)! He advised that I go off the diet for 2 weeks then come back in for a follow up appointment. They wanted to monitor his weight gain, rash, and test a few more diapers to confirm that he no longer had bloody stool. He warned us that Hudson's rash might get worse once I go off the diet, which made me really nervous. Of course part of me was excited too, but I didn't like the idea of possibly causing Hudson to get a rash. I decided two weeks wasn't too long to test out the diet and Hudson's response. I was hopeful he would be fine and I could go off the diet permanently.
