On January 25th, Hudson had his follow-up Ear, Nose Throat appointment. Everything went well, Hudson looked good and we don't have to go back unless new issues come up.
On February 11th we had our follow-up appointment with Dr. Stern. She did not think Hudson's rash looked any better and got us an appointment with a dermatologist that afternoon. She said the same thing our doctors have been saying: that he has atopic dermatitis (eczema). She gave me a prescription for a cortisone ointment, recommended a different lotion and gave me instructions on things we could do to help Hudson. She very strongly felt that diet wasn't playing a role and encouraged me to stop following my diet. Since I was going to New York that weekend, I decided it was a perfect time to test her theory.
On February 28th we went back to the dermatologist for a follow-up appointment. Hudson's rash had gotten significantly worse since our first visit (the worst it had ever been). I asked a bunch of questions and she agreed with me that the diet must be playing somewhat of a part. She also agreed with our pediatrician's decision to start him on derma-smooth oil (which dramatically improved the rash before the appointment). She didn't have much to tell me other than that his rash is severe and it isn't going to be quick or easy to figure out how to control it. I was feeling a bit down when I left and I felt especially bad for Hudson. It was starting to feel like Hudson's whole life was being spent at the doctors.
This is what I posted on facebook along with the above photo: Another day another doctor visit...sigh...this little guy spends way too much of his life at the doctors. He is still such a happy guy though! I love him so much!!
