Early Mother's Day Tea

On May 5th, I had my mom and Sabrina over for an early Mother's Day tea. I bought tons of cool products in Australia along with getting some delicious recipes and this was the perfect excuse to use them. Most of the products were from the lavender farm, so that was sort of the theme for the tea. I had originally planned to make a second batch of everything gluten free for my mom, but after searching for days unsuccesfully for many of the ingredients I gave up and ordered her gluten free tea sandwiches and scones from our local tea shop. I also ordered some sandwiches and scones for Sabrina and I just in case my food was a major fail.
I made lavender sausage rolls, lavender scones, lavender ice cream, rice krispie treats (drizzled in purple chocolate to keep with the theme) and cream for the scones. I served it with jam from the strawberry farm in Tasmania and we also made lavender English breakfast tea. We used my fine china and had the absolute best time! All of the food was so delicious!!!

After our meal, we gave my mom her gifts, then we went to the movies to see The Other Woman. It was really funny and it was so nice to get out of the house and see a movie. We came back home after the movie and enjoyed some of the lavender ice cream. This was the only thing that didn't turn out exactly like the food we had at the Bridestowe lavender farm. I'm not sure if I put in too much lavender honey or if it was because I didn't have a grinder for the lavender, but the color was off and it was too sweet. It was still good, but not amazing like the ice cream we'd had in Tassie. Oh well, everything else was a huge success and we had a wonderful day!!
