On June 13th, Nic, Sabrina, Hudson and I went to Game 5 against the New York Rangers. Surprisingly no one else in my family could go so Nic got to come and we even had an extra ticket. We know Jordan's husband is a huge Kings fan so we figured he would really appreciate being at the game (we also ran into Amy and Brandon Varon briefly). We went into it with a good feeling we would win the cup that night, but nerves rose as we fell behind. We finally scored on a power play in the third period and the regular game ended tied 2-2. Hudson was loving every second of the game, but got a little tired while waiting for the first OT to begin. The whole arena was so nervous and we all stood for the entire OT. I just kept thinking in one goal all this build up and stress could be squashed and we would have to play in yet another game to try and win the cup. Both teams had some amazing shots and at one point I was convinced NY had scored, but they didn't and we had to wait for a second OT. Hudson got a second wind during the second OT and was very excited when Alec Martinez scored with about 5 minutes left in the second OT. It was such a surreal and exciting moment. I feel so blessed that I got to witness another Stanley Cup win! I felt especially lucky to be able to share the experience with Nic, Hudson and baby #2. As you can see, by the time the Cup made its way onto the ice, Hudson was very tired again. It was a long night for him, but he is a true hockey fan and was such a trooper!
