Baked Milk Trial and Boob Pops

On August 6th, Hudson had his baked milk trial. I was given instructions for a muffin recipe (because Hudson is allergic to eggs I ended up needing to find my own recipe) that called for a huge amount of milk in it. Then we took the muffins to the doctors. My mom came with me to help since the test takes 4 hours. They record how many muffins were made, I guess to get an idea of how much milk is in each muffin, then weigh the muffin they feed Hudson. They started off with a small bite, then waited 20 minutes, then checked Hudson's vitals. They repeat this 5 times, each time increasing the amount of muffin they feed him. On the last one he eats all the remaining muffin (about half) then gets monitored for an additional hour. Hudson was really well behaved. Another little boy around the same age was there doing a pizza challenge (that is the next one we will do with Hudson for his milk allergy) so they played together which helped pass the time. On the second to last feeding, Hudson got a little rash on his cheek, but after wiping his face with water it went away, thankfully. Hudson loved the blueberry muffin and kept asking for more! I still can't believe he ate an entire blueberry muffin! I know that seems like no big deal, but as a parent who has had to limit what Hudson eats so severely, it was a really big deal to watch him eat normal food. He ended up passing, which is very exciting!! We are hoping to squeeze in a baked egg challenge before the baby arrives so Hudson can eat baked goods.
On our way home, we dropped my mom off with my dad, then went to Cakegoodness to pick up an order I had placed the week before for Lindsay. Both Lindsay's mother and sister had breast cancer so Lindsay made the decision to get a double mastectomy as a preventative measure. She decided she would get it before it got her and felt that it was a better choice than living in worry and fear. I had come up with what I thought was a brilliant idea to get her boob cake pops. I decided to throw in a few hearts for the girls (I thought it would be weird for Brooke and Gracie to eat boobs, haha) and had them make it in a cute tin display with a sign that read "You're One of my Breast Friends" I had planned to pick up the order Tuesday and take it to her the night my mom visited, but they said they couldn't get it done until Wednesday afternoon. When I got in the car after picking the order up, I quickly glanced at facebook and the first post I saw was one of Lindsay and Sandy with cupcake boobs! I couldn't believe someone else had thought of the same idea and had delivered hers only moments before I was showing up with mine! I was a little disappointed, but also thought it was pretty funny and was hoping Sandy would still be there when I arrived. She was and we all joked that great minds think alike. In fact, it was really funny that we had the same idea, but completely different executions that were very indicative of our personalities. Mine was as sweet as boob cake pops can be and Sandy's were huge and raunchy. lol. We had a great afternoon laughing and hanging out and Hudson had fun playing with Brooke and Gracie. I hope Lindsay enjoyed all her boobs and it helped put a smile on her face during her recovery. She really is a fabulous friend and did a great thing to ensure her health not only for herself, but her wonderful family. :)
