Beach Day

On August 11th, Hudson and I went to Ventura Beach for a Mom's Club Beach Day. I was so excited about it because they usually do all the fun field trips on Tuesdays when I'm working, so I was excited we could join in this time. We got there quite late and to our surprise no one else was there. A bunch of people ended up bailing at the last minute and for a while I thought it might just be a mama and Hud day. Hudson was his usual (as of lately) freaked out self. He walked all the way to our spot, mainly because I was carrying too much stuff so he didn't have a choice, but wanted to be held (he wouldn't even sit in the chair) as soon as we got to our spot. He seemed concerned about the water, which was really far away. I ended up having to hold a crying child while trying to set everything up. Then he would only sit in my lap and refused to take his socks off. It was so weird. After a while, he got a bit more comfortable and ended up sitting by himself and letting me take his socks off. Two other moms ended up showing up about an hour after we had arrived and once the other kids were around, Hudson was much more relaxed about everything. He walked through the sand and played on the playground. All the other kids wanted to go down to the water, so we went too and that is when Hud freaked out. So he seemed better about the sand, but today didn't like the water. Go figure! He was crying and begging for me to hold him. I sure hope he outgrows this fear soon.
After the traumatic visit to the water, we played in the sand for a bit longer before packing up to head home. It was way past Hud's naptime and I knew he was tired. Overall, we had a wonderful time at the beach and in usual Hudson fashion he didn't want to leave and immediately started asking for more beach as soon as we left. He is such a silly kid.
