Road Trip and Pre-IU

On September 24th, my mom, Luc and I left for Henderson, Nevada.  When I said goodbye to Hudson, he said, "Don't go mama, stay." It choked me up. I love that kid so much. The four hour drive ended up taking 8 hours. We left at 1pm and I sat in the very back so I could take care of Luc if necessary. He slept the entire first part of the drive. We stopped in Barstow and I woke Luc up to feed and change him, while my mom checked out the outlets. We stopped again at State Line around 6. We did some shopping and I nursed and changed Luc again. We arrived at the hotel around 9pm. They didn't have any adjoining rooms available so Luc and I had our own room for the night. We ordered room service and I nursed Luc and set up the room. Luc and I both went to bed around 10pm. He was up at 1:20 for a feeding (3 hours and 15 minute stretch of sleep), then again at 5 (after a 2 hour sleep) and again at 7 (after another 2 hour sleep). I set an alarm for 6:30 so I could get ready before Luc woke up so the timing actually worked out pretty well.

Every year it is freezing in the ballrooms so my plan was to wear Luc in the wrap. I wasn't sure if I would be able to fit the stroller so I went down with just the wrap for the first class. It ended up being so hot! At first I thought it was just me and my hormones, but then I noticed most people were dressed for summer and complaining. It was a bummer because Luc got so hot and upset. I had to take him out of the wrap and finish the first class with him sleeping in my lap. There was plenty of room though so I nursed him in between classes while my mom grabbed the stroller for me. Luc did great the rest of the day in his stroller and only fussed in the last class. I was pretty impressed with how well he did, especially because he didn't sleep much and instead spent a good amount of time awake and content just looking around. I think I like Pre-IU better than IU and this year some of the projects were absolutely amazing! I loved the Bella Blvd. Christmas class (and I especially liked the teacher Robin who was such a sweetheart!), Joey's class was the most relaxing. Layle's disney project was really cute! Kimber's layout class was the only slightly stressful one with Luc fussing and we ended the night with another adorable Bella Blvd. class. It was a long and exhausting, but very fun day.

Nic, Susan and Hudson left that afternoon to head out there and ended up arriving just as my final class was finishing. We set up Hudson in the pack n play in our room and Susan slept on a roll-away. Luc and Hud both did well over night. I was especially impressed with Hudson because we weren't sure how well he would adapt to all the noise over night.
