Preschool Search

From April 22nd through April 30th, I toured preschools for Hudson. Somehow, I totally missed the memo on preschool enrollment, so when a friend asked where Hudson was going I realized I better hurry up and get this done before everything was full and we ended up somewhere we don't love. I had heard a few names over and over again, so I started there, but to be honest, I wasn't overly impressed. My mom came with me to visit a few and she wasn't impressed either. I broadened the search and found that the less popular schools were so much better. It was kind of funny because we both found that a big priority for us was the playgrounds. Just knowing Hudson, I knew he needed to have a fun, large playground where he could get all his energy out. I also found that he needed a school with structure and teachers that were firm, but warm and in control. Some of the schools were very cold and some were too soft, allowing naughty kids to take advantage, not follow rules and walk all over them. I knew that would not be good for Hudson and after visiting uite a few schools, I finally narrowed it down to 2 that I loved and 2 that I felt ok about. Once I had narrowed it down, I set up trial days for Hudson where he could go for a bit to each school and check it out. This was very, very helpful. Every kid is different and because of that I now believe that different school environments are better for different kids. One of the schools that tons of friends raved about (in fact I had put us on the waiting list before we even visited, certain that that was where Hud would go), was just not a good fit for Hudson's personality. We ended up loving two schools, both religious schools, Christ Lutheran and St. Stephen's. St. Stephen's was my first choice, it was the cheapest and they had availability. Many schools had waiting lists and were significantly more money, so it seemed like it was meant to be. What a relief it was to turn in my paperwork and feel really happy and content with my decision. I actually cried on the drive home from signing Hudson up. I just couldn't believe my baby would be going to preschool, but I was also so excited for him and knew that he would absolutely love it!
Christ Lutheran-very similar to St. Stephens and our 2nd choice

Tutor Time-our 3rd choice

St. Stephen's-our 1st choice school. This is where Hudson will be going in the fall.
