Two Weeks Old

On September 5th, Hudson turned two weeks old. This was a big week for Hudson. He ate 2oz. on each side while the lactation consultant was at our house, so we got to eliminate pumping, bottle feeding and finally got to start feeding on demand instead of forcing Hudson to eat every 2 hours. Once we let him lead feedings he ate about every 2 hours 40 minutes to every 3 hours. Hudson also lost his umbilical cord and circumcision thing.

Even though no one really thought it was possible, and our goal was just for Hudson to keep gaining weight, we got him to one ounce shy of his birth weight by his two week appointment. He weighed 8 pounds 9 ounces and was still 22 inches long.

This week, both Nic and I have seen Hudson roll all the way onto his stomach, but neither of us are positive that he has done it completely unassisted. (Nic thinks he may have caused the bed to angle slightly when he saw Hudson do it and I'm not positive that I didn't touch him as I was reaching over him to grab something). We have also been laying him on his tummy against our chest and Hudson is lifting his head and turning from one side to the other. He has started making a bird like squawking noise mainly when he eats. Our pediatrician says it could be immature vocal cords or an early sign of reflux. Hudson is still wearing only newborn size clothes. He is still so skinny that even the outfit in the photo is quite baggy on him.
