Dermatology Specialist

On March 25th, Nic and I took Hudson to see a pediatric dermatologist. We had to wait forever to be seen, then went into an office where the doctor explained atopic dermatitis to us, and told us to imagine having bug bites covering our entire bodies and explained that that is how Hudson feels. Talk about heart breaking!! He gave us a list of about 15 environmental precautions such as keeping the temperature cool, keeping the humidity above 40%, vacuuming often, avoiding perfumes, avoiding animals and animal dander, avoiding certain plants, avoiding tomatoes and citrus fruits, avoiding rough clothing, avoiding sweating, and avoiding common food allergens. As if that weren't enough instructions, we left with a massive list of prescriptions (8 total) and detailed instructions on applying those as well. Those instructions included bathing Hud in tepid water every morning and every night (every 4th bath with bleach) then applying face creams, body creams (which change every couple of days) and vanicream. Plus a mid day application of face ad body creams again followed by the vanicream. We quickly realized getting this rash under control was going to be a full time job! We left feeling very overwhelmed, but optimistic that this was going to work. After all, this doctor definitely knew what he was talking about and impressively rattled off so many different creams and medicines, plus he was a top Beverly Hills doctor.
